Chain-snatcher killed in shoot-out in Noida, homeguard injured

Noida, Jan 27 (PTI) A criminal was killed and ahome guard injured in an encounter today after police chasedtwo motorcycle-borne youths who had snatched a chain and a bagfrom a woman near Sector 82 here.

The chain-snatchers struck at 1.00 PM attacking thewoman, a resident of Sector 82, who raised an alarm.

A policeman and a homeguard who were patrolling nearbychased the criminals who fired at them near Gejha village. Thesecurity men retaliated. Home guard Arun Kumar suffered bulletinjury in the shoot-out, police said.

While one of the criminals was shot, the other escapedon the police bike.

The injured criminal was taken to district hospitalwhere he was declared brought dead. He is yet to beidentified, they said.

Police have launched a manhunt for the abscondingcriminal.
