Woman declared dead in 2006 found living with new husband

Lucknow, Jan 25 (PTI) Assumed to be dead in 2006, a36-year-old womam was today found alive, living with her newhusband in Narora area of Bulandshahr district.

Santosh, a mother of four, was missing from her maritalhome in Khajuria area of Bulandshahr since 2005 and her ''body''was identified by her husband Bhanu Pratap Singh the followingyear, special Director General of Police Brij Lal said.

"An FIR was lodged by Singh in 2005 stating that his wifeSantosh had been kidnapped. He also identified her body in2006, following which a case of murder was registered and thematter is going on in court," Lal said.

Upon being found today, Santosh told police that she hadleft home because her husband would beat her, after which shehad a court marriage with one Brij Lal with whom she has beenliving in Narora for the past four years, the officer said.

He said police has taken serious note of the matter assome innocent people including one Om Vir are in jail inconnection with the case.

The SSP, Bulandshahr, has been asked to reinvestigate thematter with the court''s permission and get those in jail inconnection with the case freed immediately, Lal said, adding,stern action would be taken against Bhanu Pratap Singh who hadidentified the body of another woman as that of his wife.

A similar case of kidnapping was filed by Singh in 2000but Santosh had turned up two months later, saying that shehad gone on her own as her husband used to beat her, Laladded.
