Retired IAS officer convicted in corruption case
Bhubaneswar, Jan 25 (PTI) A special court here todayconvicted a retired IAS officer in a disproportionate of assetcase and sentenced him to three years rigorous imprisonment.
Pronouncing the judgement, the Special vigilance courtalso imposed a fine of Rs one lakh on Sanjeeb Kumar Ray,retired IAS officer and ex-additional secretary to Orissagovernment''s, Cooperation department.
Ray was facing trial on possession of assetsdisproportionate to the known sources of his income. The stateanti-corruption wing had framed charges against him underPrevention of Corruption Act 1988.
In case the fine is not realised, the convict has toundergo further RI for a period of six months," an officialrelease said.
Ray, however, said he would challenge the specialcourt''s verdict in the High Court claiming that it had notproperly heard his side of the argument.
