I-T sleuths question Priyanka Chopra''s mother

Mumbai, Jan 25 (PTI) Income Tax department officialstoday questioned Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra''s motherMadhu in connection with the alleged tax evasion by herdaughter.

"We suspect that Madhu Chopra would have crucialdetails of properties and investments. We have recorded herstatement," an I-T official said, adding that Madhu could notbe questioned yesterday as she was not in town.

The official said that Priyanka allegedly owned eightflats in the city, including five in the Raj Classic buildingin suburban Bandra.

"We suspect Priyanka is taking remuneration partly incash for endorsements, overseas assignments and privateappearances and investing in properties," the official said.

I-T sleuths today finished raids at Priyanka''spremises, while the raids at Katrina''s house were completedyesterday itself.

The I-T official said that the 12 lockers found duringthe yesterday''s raid had not been unlocked yet.

"Investigations would take some time to complete," said theofficial.

Other than Priyanka and Katrina, I-T sleuths conductedraids at the premises of renowned photographer Atul Kasbekar,talent management companies Matrix and Bling. The departmenthad also conducted raids at the premises of Priyanka''ssecretary Chand Mishra.

I-T sleuths had yesterday said they had raided 12premises in all. "We will now compile the details and send itto the assessment wing who would initiate furtherproceedings," they said.
