Centre boosting separatists'' moral: Meghalaya BJP
Shillong, Jan 25 (PTI) The BJP unit of Meghalaya todayprotested the Jammu and Kashmir Government�s decision not toallow the BJP�s youth wing�s Ekata Yatra to proceed to LalChowk (Srinagar) to hoist the National Tricolour on RepublicDay.
"It is indeed a dark day for all of us. The UPAGovernment led by Congress party and equally feeble J&K ChiefMinister are shamefully bowing to the designs of theseparatist forces by preventing us in carrying ahead with theYatra," BJP state general secretary Dipayan Chakraborty saidin a statement after a protest meeting here.
He further said the Central Government by stopping theBJP leaders to hoist the National flag is boosting "theseparatists� moral who even dare to come to Delhi and say thatthe J&K is not an integral part of the country."
The BJP also criticized the remarks of Prime MinisterManmohan Singh and termed the PM�s statement as "blatantdisregard to the aspirations and freedom of Indian Youth aswell as an attempt to ''suffocate democracy''."
The BJP further condemned the ''high-handedness'' of thegovernment of Jammu & Kashmir in dealing with senior partyleaders at Jammu airport yesterday.
"Preventing the leaders of opposition in both houses ofparliament Sushma Swraj and Arun Jaitley and BJP centralleaders from entering the city (Srinagar) in connection withthe Ekta Yatra of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha wasundemocratic and infringement of their fundamental right,"Chakraborty said.
