23 policemen get President''s medals in J

Jammu, Jan 25 (PTI) On the eve of Republic Day, twentythree officers and jawans of Jammu and Kashmir Police arebeing awarded the President''s Police Medals for Distinguished,Meritorious Service and Police Medal for Gallantry.

The Union Ministry of Home Affairs has decided toaward the medals to meritorious policemen and jawans onrecommendations of the State Government.

The President''s Police Medal for Distinguished Serviceand President''s Police Medal for Meritorious Service awardeesof Jammu and Kashmir Police are Inspector General of PoliceRavinder Kotwal, Deputy Inspectors General of Police RajeshKumar Yadav and Shafkat Ali Watali.

Superintendents of Police Ajit Lal Dogra and RafiAhmed Mir, Deputy Superintendents of Police Sodagar MalJangral and Shamshir Singh Sambyal have also been awardedMedals for Meritorious Service.

Similarly, the Medals for Meritorious Service awardeesinclude Inspectors Syed Faiyaz Ahmed, Rajinder Kumar Bhardwaj,Mohammad Ashraf Rather and Faiyaz Ahmed Banday, ASI BashirAhmed Kumar and Head Constable Showkat Ali.

The Gallantry Medal awardees of Jammu and KashmirPolice include Deputy Superintendent of Police Sheikh FaisalQayoom, Sub-Inspectors Parvaiz Ahmed, Imtiyaz Ahmed, MohammadShafi and Sajad Asad, Head Constable Chamial Singh, ConstablesGhulam Mohammad Chichi, Parveen Kumar and Ghulam MohammadMalik.
