15-car local train to make debut in Mumbai

Mumbai, Jan 25 (PTI) In a bid to make train journeyhassle-free for commuters, the Western Railway (WR) wouldintroduce 15-car local trains on its network from Wednesday.

WR will do a test run tomorrow and after that the servicewill be regularised for commuters from Friday, Western RailwayChief PRO Sharat Chandrayan said.

According to WR, the 15-car services have 66 per centmore carrying capacity than the 9-car services.

"There will be six 15-car services to start with. Theywill halt at Dadar, Bandra, Andheri,Borivali, Mira Road,Bhayander, Vasai Road and Nalasopara stations," Chandrayansaid.
