Why women who get pregnant post egg donation are 'high-risk patients'
Washington, Jan 25 (ANI): A new study from the University Hospital Aachen explains why women who get pregnant after egg donation have to be categorized as high-risk patients.
The researchers found that 8 women who had become pregnant after egg donation had to be treated with pregnancy-induced hypertension and three out of these pregnancies had to be terminated prematurely for fear of the mother's life.
The other 5 cases showed a milder course of pregnancy-induced hypertension.
The authors recommend that patients be closely monitored by doctors with a specialization in maternofetal medicine.
The study appears in the current issue of Deutsches Arzteblatt International. (ANI)
