Two killed, two seriously injured in post-poll violence

Sitapur (UP), Jan 25 (PTI) Two persons, including a Dalitwoman pradhan, were today shot dead and two others seriouslyinjured allegedly over poll-related rivalry at Leharpur area,police said here.

Sudama Devi (45), her husband Bachan, nephew Amar Singh(18) and his father Sanjai were shot at in Akbarpur villagethis morning while they were returning to Neria Persiavillage.

While Amar was killed on the spot, Devi died on the wayto hospital, police said.

The injured were admitted to the district hospital wheretheir condition was stated to be serious.

A case has been registered against former village headRajendra, Brajesh, Kuldeep, Saddique and five others in thisconnection.

Police stated political rivalry as the motive behind thekillings since Devi had defeated Rajendra in panchayat pollslast year.
