Seven sentenced to life in 30-year-old murder case of ex-MLA

Etah, Jan 24 (PTI) Thirty years after the murder of aformer BJP MLA, a local court today sentenced seven people tolife imprisonment and awarded a fine of Rs 40,000 each in thecase.

According to the prosecution sources, followingelectoral rivalry, former MLA Satish Sharma was abducted fromhis farm house in Doraiya village here and later killed onNovember 16, 1980, allegedly by the then MLA of AliganjLatoori Singh and his associates.

An FIR had also been filed against 16 people,including Singh in this connection, they added.

Among those awarded life imprisonment and fine, bySpecial Judge Rajendra Babu Sharma, who pronounced the verdicttoday, are Sadhu Singh, Het Ram, Gajraj, Hari Singh, Sripal,Anar Singh and Shyam Singh, they said.

All the remaining accused, including Latoori Singh areno longer alive, the sources said.
