SC upholds life imprisonment for gangster Babloo
New Delhi, Jan 25 (PTI) The Supreme Court today upheldthe conviction and sentence of life imprisonment for gangsterBabloo Srivastava for killing a custom officer 17 years ago.
A bench of justices P Sathasivam and H L Dattudismissed the appeal of Srivastava who had challenged hisconviction for gunning down customs officer L D Arora inAllahabad.
A Kanpur TADA court had convicted him for the murderin September 2008.
Two other accused in the case were booked under TADAfor the murder which took place on March 24, 1993 at theinstance of mob boss Dawood Ibrahim.
Arora, during his posting in Mumbai, had seized a hugeconsignment of smuggled gold in which the Mumbai gangsterswere involved.
Srivastava is in jail since his extradition in 1995from Singapore.
