Protesting attack on fishermen advocates abstain from work
Kumbakonam (TN), Jan 25 (PTI) Members of Kumbakonam BarAssociation today boycotted court protesting the attacks onTamil Nadu fishermen allegedly by Sri Lankan Naval personnel.
Nearly 370 advocates, including 40 women, abstained fromcourt work in line with a decision taken at an extraordinaryGeneral Body of the association presided over by its PresidentM.Rajasekar.
The meeting condemned the killing of two fishermen thismonth and urged the Centre and state government to initiatesteps to stop recurrence of such attacks, association sourcessaid.
The association members also staged a demonstration raisingslogans condemning the killing of the fishermen.
