Prominent citizens appeal to people to celebrate Republic Day
Guwahati, Jan 25 (PTI) Prominent citizens and journalistsof Assam today appealed to the people of the state tocelebrate the Republic Day tomorrow in a befitting manner.
In a statement, signed among others by Sahitya Akademiawardee Nirupama Borgohain, they appealed to the people tohoist the Tricolour atop their houses and on the campuses oftheir institutions maintaining all dignity.
Besides this, the citizens also appealed to the people topay tributes to Assamese martyrs of the freedom struggle likePiyali Phukan, Maniram Dewan, Kanaklata Barua, Mukunda Kakati,Rowta Koch, Madan Deka, Bhogeswari Phukanani and Kushal Konwaramong others.
