Modi moots central reservation for backwards on Bihar lines
Patna, Jan 25 (PTI) Deputy Chief Minister S K Modi todaydemanded that the Centre provide reservation for backward andextremely backward people on the pattern of Bihar government.
"The Centre must provide reservation for backward andextremely backward people on the pattern of the stategovernment", Modi said while addressing a function organisedto mark the 88th birth anniversary of former Chief MinisterKarpoori Thakur.
He said the state government had provided 18 per cent and12 per cent reservation for the backward and extremelybackwards in Bihar, "but the Centre doesn''t have given thefacility for them in jobs".
Modi said ''Jan Nayak'' Karpoori Thakur was the first ChiefMinister in the country who had provided reservation forbackwards and extremely backwards in government jobs with thesupport of Jansangh and BJP.
He recalled that Kailashpati Mishra, senior BJP leader,was the Finance minister in 1977 when Thakur made theprovisions for reservation for them.
