MCD wants Rs 76 cr from Delhi govt for CWG works
New Delhi, Jan 25 (PTI) Struggling with low cashreserves, the MCD has demanded Rs 76 crore from the Delhigovernment for various works carried out before and during theCommonwealth Games in October last year.
The civic agency has demanded money for horticultureworks, construction of road under-bridges and cleaning of theGames Village.
"For example, we were to get Rs 50 crore for roadunder-bridges. Delhi government was to give this money to usbut we are yet to get it," Mayor Prithvi Raj Sawhney said.
He said the MCD has sent a letter to the PrincipalSecretary, Delhi government. "We are awaiting their response,"the Mayor said.
The MCD is grappling with the problem of low cashreserves and dwindling revenue and also has an over Rs 2,500crore debt.
