JK govt to spend Rs 1,600 crore under MGNREGA

Srinagar, Jan 25 (PTI) To generate more employmentopportunities for the youth in the state, especially in therural areas, the Jammu and Kashmir government is planning tospend Rs 1,600 crore under MGNREGA during the next fiscal.

"The state government has a proposal to incur Rs 1600crore during the next financial year under MGNREGA in thestate so that poor people can get employment opportunities,besides the development of far flung areas of the state,"Minister for Rural Development Ali Mohammad Sagar has said.

Sagar was addressing rallies at Tangmarg, Kunzer andSingpora Pattan in Baramulla district of north Kashmiryesterday.

He said Rs 600 crore are being spent in the stateunder NREGA during the current financial year so that more andmore employment opportunities are provided to the unemployedyouth in the state, particularly in rural areas.
