Inter-state kidnapping gang busted in Arunachal

Itanagar, Jan 25 (PTI) Police have busted an inter-stategang of kidnappers who have been operating in Assam andArunachal Pradesh for several years, police said today.

The underworld came to light after arrest of fivepersons during the past few days who had confessed theoperation running in two states.

They also confessed that their gang had kidnappedcontractor Ratan Singh and his labourer Dilip Rai from LowerBanskota on December 30 last.

They had also demanded Rs one crore ransom for therelease of the duo. Six Bodos of Sonitpur district of Assamwere directly involved in the kidnapped.

The gang was also responsible for the kidnapping oftraders Raj Kishor Singh of Mebo and Nandi from Dipa villagein Assam last year. They were rescued by a joint team of Armyand Assam Police from Nari area after a shoot out in whichfour kidnappers were killed.

All the arrested kidnappers were remanded to policecustody and investigation was on.
