Suva, Jan 25 (ANI): The husband and son of the Indian-origin woman, who was burnt alive on the side of a Waikato road in New Zealand, have been located in Fiji.

Stuff.co.nz quoted Detective Senior Sergeant Nigel Keall of the Waikato CIB as saying that the boy was found when Fijian police located his father.

New Zealand police are currently working to verify the boy's wellbeing.

"The boy's father is a person of interest in relation to the homicide enquiry into the death of his wife, 28-year-old Ranjeeta Sharma, of South Auckland whose body was found west of Huntly Thursday night," Keall said.

"Our inquiry is continuing and we are seeking further clarification from Fiji police of the circumstances surrounding the father being located. Until we have had further discussions with Fiji police we are unable to add more at this stage," he added.

Ranjeeta Sharma's body was discovered last week, and an international manhunt was launched when it was found her husband, Devesh Kumar Sharma, had left the country with the couple's four-year-old son.

According to Michael Clark, Director of the Manukau-based training provider Corporate Academy Group, the murdered Indian-origin woman had completed a healthcare programme last year and was expected to return this year to complete more papers.

The relatives of Sharma said that the couple moved to New Zealand in 1998 and got married in Fiji in 2002, adding that the husband often used to get agitated and shouted at his wife. (ANI)
