Foreign tourist assaulted in Puri

Puri (Orissa), Jan 24 (PTI) A foreign tourist wasassaulted by unidentified miscreants at Puri, the famousseaside pilgrim town here today, police said.

Omaro Daniel (25) of Kazakhstan along with his wife,parents and other family members was taking a strol in SriVihar area, close to Sri Jagannath Sanskrit University on theoutskirts of the town when when he was attacked by threemiscreants, the officer, Sea beach police station A K Dharsaid.

When Daniel tried to protest, they attacked him withshrap-edged weapons causing injury on his hand.

He was discharged after being treated at the districtheadquarters hospital here.

Daniel was staying in a hotel since January 11 alongwith his family members.

There had been instances of misbehaviour with severalforeign and domestic tourists in the town in recent times,local tourism industry sources said. PTI COR SKN SUS
