Congress takes out procession against BSP govt in UP
Allahabad, Jan 24 (PTI) Stepping up its offensiveagainst the ruling BSP in Uttar Pradesh, Congress activiststoday took out a procession here in protest against the"deteriorating law and order situation".
The protest, led by UPCC president Rita BahugunaJoshi, began at the busy Civil Lines crossing in the citywhere the Congress workers raised slogans against "lawlessnessprevailing under BSP rule in Uttar Pradesh" and smeared aposter of Chief Minister Mayawati with black colour.
The procession, thereafter, proceeded towards theoffice of the Deputy Inspector General of Police of Allahabad,situated five kilometers away.
The Congress activists gheraoed the DIG''s office forclose to an hour and registered a strong protest against arecent incident in which armed robbers had shot dead ajewellery shop owner and decamped with valuables worth morethan Rs one crore.
However, no untoward incident was reported during theagitation.
