2 injured in NLFT ambush
Agartala, Jan 24 (PTI) Two persons were seriouslyinjured when suspected National Liberation Front of Tripura(NLFT) insurgents ambushed a jeep near Indo-Bangla border inSouth district today.
A jeep was proceeding towards Raishyabari from NutanBazar with passengers when it came under heavy fire fromsuspected NLFT ultras at Champling Cherra, close to theinternational border at around 12.30 pm, police sources said.
The driver Dipen Kumar Tripura (24) and Maran Debnath,an occupant, were seriously injured, police said addingdespite suffering bullet wounds the driver managed to take thevehicle to a safer place at Raishyabari.
Security has been beefed up along the un-fenced borderto foil any kind of intrusion attempt from across.
The Tripura police have put all the police stations onhigh alert in view of the Republic Day celebrations.
