ULFA alleges fake encounter by government
Guwahati, Jan 24 (PTI) The ULFA today claimed that the twoyouths killed by security forces in Tinsukia district of Assamyesterday were innocent villagers and not its members.
ULFA''s publicity in-charge Arunodoy Dohotiya in an e-mailto PTI claimed that Arup Chowrak and Kanteswar Chetia wereresidents of Goriating village in the Makum police stationarea and were picked up by security forces while cycling backto the village.
"The state government is resorting to fake encounters towipe out the indigenous Assamese and this will not betolerated by us," the e-mail warned, adding that theorganisation would be forced to strike back if its patiencewas tested.
Official sources had yesterday said that the two ULFAmilitants were killed in a joint operation by the Army and thepolice following specific inputs on the presence of themilitants in the area.
