Three tribals die after consuming vegetable high on pesticides
Jabalpur, Jan 24 (PTI) Three tribals, including a womanand two children, died after consuming vegetables suspected tocontain excess pesticides near here, a health departmentofficial said today.
Ranu Gotia (35), Tamanna (3) and Suraj (6), members of ajoint family died yesterday after they complained of vomiting,District Chief Health and Medical Officer (CMHO) Dr D SChauhan said.
"Initially it appears that they had taken dinner onSaturday comprising vegetables containing excess pesticideswhich was not properly boiled," Dr Chauhan said.
The Gotia family had grown the vegetable in the backyardof their house, he said.
Ranu and Tamanna died at their residence at villageSonpur under Khamaria Police Station area, while Ranu breathedher last in a hospital, Dr Chauhan said adding the postmortemreport of the deceased was awaited.
