RSP observes SAIL foundation Day

Rourkela, Jan 24 (PTI) Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP)today observed the foundation day of the Steel Authority ofIndia Limited (SAIL) through functions and a bicycle rally tocreate awareness on AIDs.

RSP Managing Director S N Singh appealed to theworkers to maintain green environment of the steel city. Healso asked the workers to continue their efforts to maintainthe high production of the steel plant.

"The steel market is booming and the modernisation ofthe steel plant will increase its production to 4.5 milliontonnes from its existing 2 million tonnes", he said.

Singh flagged off the bicycle rally organised on theoccasion by the Youth Hostel Association of India, Rourkelabranch for creating AIDs awareness among the people.

At a separate function, Singh distributed scholarshipto 30 professional students for their higher studies inmedical and engineering as a part of Corporate SocialResponsibility of the RSP.

"Meritorious students of the periphery villages willbe provided all financial help for their higher studies",Singh said while appealing to the students of the backwardclass to concentrate on their studies.
