R-Day celebrations: UP Police put on alert
Lucknow, Jan 24 (PTI) Uttar Pradesh police has issuedan alert to maintain round-the-clock vigil in view of theRepublic Day celebrations in the state.
District police chiefs have been asked to step upsecurity at sensitive places and maintain strict vigil intheir areas, sources in the DGP office said today.
Security has also been tightened in all major townslike Agra and Lucknow and places of religious importance likeVaranasi, Allahabad, Mathura-Vrindavan.
Policemen in plain-clothes would be deployed incrowded places like railway, bus stations and airports.
Patrolling has also been stepped up near theIndo-Nepal border, they said.
Internet cafe owners, hotel and dharamshalas have beenasked to verify and take identity-proof of people availingtheir services, they added.
