BSF battalion to be stationed in Kangra: CM

Dharamsala, Jan 24 (PTI) A BSF battalion will bestationed permanently at Shahpur in Himachal Pradesh''s Kangradistrict, Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal said here today.

The state government has allotted the land for thispurpose, he said.

A Disaster Managment Battalion will also be placedat Nurpur, 70-km from here, in the Kangra district, the ChiefMinister said.

A woman battalion of the state police, the first ofits kind in North India, was recently stationed near BhakraDam, he said.

Dhumal was speaking after laying foundation stones ofdevelopment works, which included laying of 400-mt synthetictrack, in Dharamsala.

He said Dharamsala, which already has a stadium ofinternational standard where two IPL matches were held lastyear, is being developed as a sports city.

Dhumal said his government has given benefits to thetune of nearly Rs 1200 crore to farmers in the state.

An agreement will be signed with the InternationalCoporation of Japan for development of bio fertilisers inthe state, he said.
