Bengal health minister to represent state at CM''s conference

Kolkata, Jan 24 (PTI) West Bengal Health Minister SuryaKanta Mishra will represent the state at the Chief Ministers''Conference on internal security convened by the Centre inDelhi on February 1.

"Surya Kanta Mishra will attend the meeting," ChiefMinister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee told newsmen while releasinga book at his secretariat chamber.

Mishra had also attended the previous Chief Ministers''Conference on the issue.

Although the chief minister did not give any reason forsending Mishra as his representative, scretariat sources saidhe is scheduled to address a meeting here on February 1.

The conference is scheduled to be inaugurated by PrimeMinister Manmohan Singh and will be attended by Union HomeMinister P Chidambaram.

Bhattacharjee had discussed the situation in the state,with reference to the Maoist activities, at a meeting with thePrime Minister in Delhi on January 19.
