Hurt Paromita Verma seeks asylum in UK

London, Jan 22: Indian Diplomat Anil Verma was a respectable man with a diplomatic status and a reputation that was morally high and sound. But all that is history with the latest wife-beating case surfacing that has marred his reputation in a large way.

Paromita Verma, Anil Verma's wife was subjected to domestic violence inflicted by her husband and was on the run. After the diplomat was recalled back by the Ministry of External Affairs for his dubious behaviour, he must be cursing his fate at the moment.

Meanwhile, Paromita has applied to the British home office to make her stay in the United Kingdom legal. She has mentioned a recent surgery undergone by their five-year old son as the reason for her stay there. Her application to the Home office is still pending approval.

She was earlier served a letter by the British Foreign and Commonwealth PaOffice last week and had intimated her that she had 31 days to leave UK on account of the completion of Anil Vermas tour of duty.

The Indian government is still investigating the case of wife-bashing by the diplomat. Paromita engaged in a verbal duel with her husband that led to the turn of events. They were having disagreements over a Christmas Tree. Paromita has however not been available for comment.
