Bangalore, Jan 22: Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa on Saturday, Jan 22, declined to resign over the state's Governor H R Bhardwaj's prosecution sanctions against him.

The Chief Minister's statement came in the wake of demand for his resignation by former prime minister and JDS leader H D Deve Gowda and other opposition party leaders from Congress.

"Why should I resign? Has any Chief Minister resigned on the filing of a complaint against him," the Chief Minister said at a press conference while continuing his tirade against the governor.

Prior to that in the day BJP also made it clear that Yeddyurappa would not resign to the chief minister's post. "Democratically elected Yeddyurappa has every right to continue in the chief minister's post," BJP spokesperson Rajiv Pratap Rudy said in Delhi.

Yeddyurappa alleged that the governor had turned into a Congress agent in the Raj Bhavan. He also termed that the response from people all over Karnataka to BJP called shutdown on Saturday, Jan 22, was enormous and it sends a message that the people were angry upon the governor.
