SC criticises Sibal for undermining CAG report on 2G scam
New Delhi, Jan 21 (PTI) The Supreme Court today pulledup Telecom Minister Kapil Sibal for making statementsundermining the CAG report on the 2G scam and asked him tobehave with some sense of responsibility.
"It is unfortunate. The minister should behave withsome sense of responsibility," the bench of Justices G SSinghvi and A K Ganguly said.
It directed the CBI to go ahead with the probe intothe scam without getting influenced by any body''s statement.
The CAG has estimated a loss of Rs 1.76 lakh crores to theexchequer in allocation of 2G spectrum during the tenure offormer Telecom Minister A Raja.
"In our opinion, the CBI which is conductinginvestigation into the 2G scam is expected to carry out theprobe without being influenced by the statement made byanybody, anywhere, including the press," the bench said.
Sibal had termed as "utterly erroneous and without anybasis" the estimated loss arrived at by the CAG on account ofallocation of 2G spectrum to telecom operators. MORE KRH AACRKS RAX SC
