Four killed, many injured in accident

Aizawl, Jan 21 (PTI) Four persons were killed and severalothers injured when a mini-truck they were travelling met withaccident near West Phaileng village in the Mizoram-Tripuraborder Mamit district, police said today.

Twentyeight people were travelling in the ill-fated 407truck yesterday and majority of them were from Silsury andAndermanik villages, who were going to West Phaileng villageto open their bank accounts under the New Land Use Policy(NLUP), the flagship programme of the ruling Congress, thesources said.

Among those injured, the conditions of four personswere stated to be critical and were brought to the AizawlCivil Hospital.

Police said that the truck, bearing a Tripuraregistration, hit a huge block of earth and rolled over on thegorge below the road.
