DMK-Cong ties strong, says TNCC
Chennai, Jan 21 (PTI) Ahead of the Tamil Nadu Assemblyelections slated for May, the TNCC today said its ties withally DMK were strong.
"The DMK-Congress alliance is strong. We have already wonthree elections (in the past)," TNCC president KV Thangkabalutold reporters here.
The alliance, which was forged in 2004 for the Lok Sabhapolls, had then won all 39 seats in Tamil Nadu and the loneLok Sabha seat in Puducherry, besides winning the 2009 LokSabha polls and the Assembly elections in 2006.
Thangkabalu said the alliance will produce morevictories, in an apparent reference to the approachingAssembly elections in the state.
Some strains were visible in the alliance followingresignation of former Union Telecom Minister A Raja over the2G spectrum scam but both Prime Minister Manmohan Singh andDMK president and Chief Minister M Karunanidhi had assertedthat the ties were strong.
As part of the poll preparations, three meetings will beheld at various levels of the party soon to chalk outstrategies and form committees including those meant for fieldwork, Thangkabalu said.
