Two held for illegal arms dealing
Lucknow, Jan 19 (PTI) Two persons, including a woman,were arrested for allegedly dealing in illegal fire-arms, inNakka area here today.
The Special Task Force (STF) nabbed the duo who were themembers of an inter-state gang involved in the business ofillegal fire-arms, a senior police official said.
"Arif and Geeta Devi were arrested this afternoon nearGRP lines and two .32 bore pistols were recovered from theirpossession," Special Director General of Police Brij Lal toldreporters.
In the last few months, information was being receivedabout the illegal arms smuggling from Bihar to UP, he said,adding that "acting on a tip off, the STF team arrested theduo."
Brij Lal said that Geeta, who hails from Munger inBihar, used to work as a carrier for one Suresh Mandal aliasRanjeet, while Arif worked as a local agent of Ranjeet. PTIAVA PG
