Porn sites scrapped in BlackBerry mobiles

Jakarta, Jan 20: Now, no more access to porn sites in BlackBerry mobiles. This is an urgent move made by the Research in Motion (RIM) following a threat from Indonesian government.

BlackBerry makers received warning from Indonesian government and took the step by blocking the porn sites from its phone before the deadline, Friday, Jan 21, given by the government of the country.

Company spokesperson stated, "RIM is now in the process of implementing an Internet content filtering solution that addresses our carrier partners' regulatory obligations in Indonesia."

"RIM looks forward to continuing our investments in the Indonesian marketplace and to continue supporting the needs of our customers, developers and distribution partners," the official added.

"The site you are trying to open is not accessible through this network," that is message which will be appeared if Indonesians try to access websites such as www.playboy.com in BlackBerry.

After appreciating move by RIM, Communications Minister of the country, Tifatul Sembiring stated in his Twitter account, "Praise to God, RIM has complied with Indonesia's laws and regulations."

"Pornography has begun to be blocked. Please go ahead with doing business as long as laws are complied with," he added.
