Militants force school to shut down
Imphal, Jan 20 (PTI) A militant outfit has forced theclosure of a premier school in Manipur''s Imphal West districttoday for non-payment of its monetary demand.
Spokesman of Don Bosco School at Langjing said theschool has been closed down indefinitely as it cannot affordto pay Rs 3 lakh demanded by Kangleipak Communist Party -Military Council.
The ''demand money'' notice, served by the outfit onDecember 31, said the school should not function till thepayment was made, he said.
Students and parents have appealed to the militant outfitto withdrwaw its demand notice, the spokesman said.
The school is one of the premier ones in the north eaststate and is known for its high educational standards and goodstudents.
