Hyd police issues prohibitory orders ahead of OU exams
Hyderabad, Jan 19 (PTI) In the wake of protests demandingcancellation of examinations of Osmania University (OU) thatare scheduled from tomorrow, city police tonight imposedprohibitory orders under section 144 CrPC at all theexamination centres here for smooth conduct of the tests.
"With a view to maintain public order and public peaceand to prevent obstruction, Hyderabad Police Commissioner A KKhan ordered prohibition of any assembly of persons around 500yards at all the examination centres of OU Post Graduateexams," police said.
The prohibition order shall remain in force between 0800hrs and 1800 hrs from tomorrow till February 7, they said.
The OU Students Joint Action Committee had earlier givena call for boycott of the examinations till a bill wasintroduced in Parliament for creation of separate Telanganastate, even as pro-Telangana students and activists againindulged in stone pelting at police on the varsity campus thisevening in support of the demand.
