Govt to set up over 40,000 booths to administer polio drops
Chennai, Jan 20 (PTI): The Tamil Nadu government will setup over 40,000 booths to administer polio drops as part of theIntensive Pulse Polio Immunization (IPPI) on January 23 andFebruary 27, Health and Family Welfare Minister M R KPanneerselvam said today.
All children under the age of five years will beadministered polio drops on these days irrespective of theirprevious immunization status, he said in an official release.
A little over 40,000 booths and transit booths will be setup at various places, including government hospitals, PrimaryHealth Centres, railway stations, bus stands, airports andplaces of worship, he said, adding a total of 70 lakh childrenare expected to be benefited.
Special efforts were on to cover migrant children, he said.
