Further consultations to be held over Telangana: PM
New Delhi, Jan 19 (PTI) Amid the growing clamour for aseparate state of Telangana, Prime Minister Manmohan Singhtoday said there would be further consultations on the issue.
"I think Home Minister had a meeting with leaders ofpolitical parties from Andhra Pradesh. They had gone back andwill study the report of the Srikrishna Committee. There willbe further consultations," Singh said responding to queriesfrom reporters at Rashtrapati Bhavan.
His comments came at a time when Congress MPs from theTelangana region have threatened to resign from the Lok Sabhaif a bill for carving a separate state out of Andhra Pradeshwas not brought in the Budget session of Parliament beginningnext month.
Separate Telangana has been a ticklish issue for theparty which is divided over it on regional lines in the state.
Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee had held a meeting withCongress MPs from Telangana last week and had asked them to"co-operate".
