Five held for planting explosives in garage

Mumbai, Jan 20 (PTI) Five persons were today arrested forallegedly planting explosive material in a garage at suburbanMalad here with an intent to get its owner labelled as a''terrorist'' over a property dispute, police said.

According to police, Sajid Sheikh, Maqsood Ahmed, Mehboobamin Khan, Irfana Khan and Imran Rashid Khan were arrested inthe early hours today for hatching a conspiracy to label thegarage owner Salim Khan as a terrorist and get him arrested.

Salim Khan is embroiled in a dispute with his relativesover the ownership of the garage, said Shamsher Pathan,Senior Inspector at Pydhonie police station.

On Tuesday, two unidentified persons dropped a bagcontaining explosive powder, ball bearings, nuts and bolts ina car of the garage to implicate Khan, police said.

Acting on a tip off, Pydhonie police picked up the garageowner for questioning and the seized the bag on the same dayfrom a creek, following which investigations were carried outunravelling the entire conspiracy, leading to arrests in thecase, police said.
