Dismissed J&K cop arrested for militant links

Jammu, Jan 19 (PTI) A dismissed Jammu and Kashmir policeconstable has been arrested for his alleged links with HizbulMujahideen divisional commander Javaid Qureshi, who wasarrested last month from Dehradun in Uttarakhand, police saidhere today.

On a tip off, dismissed cop Davinder Kumar alias DK, aresident of Bhaderwah in Doda district, was arrested during araid at a hideout from Bhalla in Doda last night, the policesaid.

They said the dismissed cop was wanted in nine criminalcases including a case pertaining to supply of arms andammunition and other logistic support to Qureshi.

During his posting as Incharge, Operations at picketSarak in Marmat in 2001, Kumar had helped Qureshi. He used tosell AK rounds for Rs 20 each and Insas rounds for Rs 5 eachto the militants, thus earning huge amounts of money, thepolice said.

He had also received Rs 50,000 from militants forproviding them a gun and Rs 25,000 for giving them a pistol,they said.

A case has been registered against him and furtherinvestigations are going on.
