Cops suspended, transferred over kidnapped boy''s murder

Chandigarh, Jan 19 (PTI) Two police inspectors and a sub-inspector were today suspended and a sub-divisional policeofficer was transferred for alleged dereliction of duty inconnection with the kidnapping and murder of a child here.

Five-year-old Khushpreet was found murdered in Mohaliafter his kidnapping last month, triggering strong protests bycity residents. Police are yet to crack the case.

In view of findings of a magisterial inquiry into thematter, Inspector Udaypal Singh (the then SHO of PoliceStation-34), Inspector Narinder Singh Patiyal (the thenIncharge of police post Burail) and SI Balraj Singh (policepost Burail) have been placed under suspension with immediateeffect, an official spokesman said.

A regular departmental inquiry for major penalty has beenordered against them, he said.

Vijay Kumar, SDPO (South) has also been transferred tothe police headquarters with immediate effect, the spokesmansaid.
