Congress slams BJP for using the cabinet as a "shield"

Bangalore,Jan 19 (PTI) The Congress today slammed theruling BJP for its attempts to use the Cabinet as a "shield"to protect its government and its ministers from charges ofcorruption and its demand that the Governor not give consentfor prosecuting Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa.

Accusing the BJP of shielding corrupt ministers includingmining magnates, the Reddy brothers, Karnataka PCC President GParameshwara charged that the ruling party leaders were tryingto cover up the corrupt deeds of Yeddyurappa, who has "nomoral right to continue in office."

In a statement, Parameshwara flayed the BJP''s threat ofholding protests and giving a call for bandh to protestagainst the Governor H R Bhardwaj, if he accords consent toprosecute Yeddyurappa and Home Minister R Ashoka.
