Colombia: Cops nab drug-peddling pigeon
A police official said that they captured the bird, when it tried to enter a prison carrying marijuana and cocaine packets laced to its back.
Officials said that the bird has been trained by its inmates to delivery the drugs to destined place. But the bird could not managed to fly the prison wall because of the overload, 45grms of drug paste was strapped on its back.
Prisoners using birds for smuggling is not uncommon, earlier a parrot was arrested, when it tried to carry drugs in warehouse in Barranquilla and last year cops found that a parrot being used for lookout. Previously another pigeon had been used to smuggle SIM cards and mobiles into the Colombia jail.
A spokesperson for Colombian police said, "this is a new case of criminal ingenuity. Well it would have been, if it worked."
