Brothers arrested for assaulting traffic constable
Mumbai, Nov 19 (PTI) In a case of road rage, twobusinessmen were today arrested for allegedly assaulting atraffic police constable following an argument during atraffic jam in suburban Andheri, police said.
The accused Mahesh and Yogesh Jhunjhunwala, bothbrothers, were charged with interfering with the duty of apublic servant and assaulting him, they said.
According to police, the incident occurred this afternoonwhen Ajit Pawar, the traffic constable attached to Andheritraffic police division, was managing vehicular traffic on thePump House road.
A tempo''s tyre got punctured on the road resulting inhuge vehicular traffic, police said adding Pawar asked trafficpolice chowky to send a towing van to take away the tempo.
In the meantime, the two brothers alighted from their carand inquired reasons for the traffic jam.
As the constable narrated them about tempo incident, theduo suggested the cop to take out the air from all the tyresin a bid to teach the driver a lesson.
However, Pawar refused to do so and also prevented theduo from doing the same when they began arguing with him andassaulted him.
The traffic constable subsequently approached the MIDCpolice station after which the two were arrested.
