BJP MP''s husband granted bail

Lucknow, Jan 19 (PTI) The Lucknow bench of theAllahabad High Court has granted bail to the husband of BJPRajya Sabha member Kusum Rai and another person who weresentenced to five years imprisonment by a lower court in a17-year-old assault case.

A single bench of Justice Y K Sanghal admitted thebail pleas of Rajesh Rai and Radhey Shyam alias Ram Sewak andquashed the fast track court order which had sentenced theaccused to five years imprisonment and had also slapped fineof Rs 1,000 each on January 15.

The case dates back to 1993 when both the accused hadallegedly assaulted Mewalal, a minor, over a garbage litterdispute.
