Additional forces deployed to guard jail having Maoists

Hazaribagh (Jharkhand), Jan 19 (PTI) Additionalsecurity forces have been deployed to guard a jail here wheremany top Maoist leaders are lodged, official sources saidtoday.

The step was taken as a large number of top Maoistsleaders from Bihar, Jharkhand, Andhra Pradesh and Chattisgarhare kept in the Jai Prakash Narayan Central jail here.

Some members of the CPI (Maoist''s) central committeewere also lodged in the jail, sources said.

Visitors, including relatives of the jailed Maoists,are being screened before allowing them to meet the inmates.

The police has also sounded alert in the NorthChotonagpur division after the escape of Dhiren''da aliasMangru Mahto alias Dhiren along with two others from Chaibasajail on Monday.

The police apprehend that he must be hiding in thedense forests of Giridih district as he was active in Giridih,Hazaribagh and Bokaro districts between 1990 and 2002.

He was involved in several Naxal-related violence,including murder and blowing up buildings, police said. PTICORR PVR NIK
