8 get lifer for killing youth

Sitapur (UP), Jan 19 (PTI) Eight youths were todaysentenced to life imprisonment by a court here for killing ayouth by throwing him out of a moving train.

Vivek Singh Chauhan alias Monu (20) was thrown out of apassenger train near Harauni railway station in Lucknowdistrict on September 10, 2007, by some youths after having adispute over seat-sharing, the prosecution said.

The government railway police arrested 10 youthsincluding Vishal Pandey, Anurag Chandra, Nikhil Varma, VineetVarma, Vikas Kumar Bajpai, Pradeep Varma, Shohrat Singh,Anurag Singh, Manoj Kumar Singh and Sandeep Kumar, all in theage group of early twenties.

Being a minor, the case of Vishal Pandey and AnuragChandra was transferred to juvenile justice board.

On the basis of eyewitnesses account and evidenceproduced by the police, Additional Sessions Judge B C Saxenatoday held Nikhil, Vineet, Vikas, Pradeep, Shohrat, Anurag,Manoj and Sandeep guilty.

The accused were also slapped with a penalty of Rs 10,000each.
