New Delhi, Jan 18 (PTI) Karnataka Chief Minister B SYeddyurappa today met senior BJP leader Arun Jaitley hereto discuss how to deal with Governor H R Bhardwaj with whomthe state government has had strained ties.
Yeddyurappa arrived here this afternoon and discussedin detail the "problems" he is facing due to Bhardwaj''scomments and actions.
Bhardwaj said earlier in the day today that he has beenstudying a request by a lawyers forum seeking permission toprosecute Yeddyurappa and Home Minister R Ashok in allegedland scams.
"The Chief Minister will meet President Pratibha Patilon January 24 to complain against the actions of Bhardwaj whois working at the behest of Congress and JD(S) leader H DKumaraswamy," a close associate of Yeddyurappa told PTI.
Jaitley, an eminent lawyer, advised Yeddyurappa on howhe could tackle the crisis in the state where the oppositionhas not allowed the Assembly to function and charged thegovernment with corruption in land allotment.
Asked about the corruption charges against Yeddyurappa,BJP chief spokesperson Ravi Shankar Prasad said the landalloted to his sons had been returned and an FIR lodgedagainst a minister (Katta Subramaniam Naidu) facing corruptioncharges had to resign.
"The question of change in land use is a larger one. S MKrishna as Chief Minister of Karnataka had changed land use of300 acres of land," he alleged.
BJP also took on Bhardwaj for his reported statementthat he may order an inquiry against Yeddyurappa on January 20if the Chief Minister failed to clear his name.
"It is not a surprise if he has said so....He can go toany extent as Governor of a state," Prasad said in reply to aquestion on the issue.
He described Bhardwaj as a "political Governor" butexpressed confidence that Indian democracy was strong enoughto deal with such situations.
