UP Election Comm ropes in folk singer Malini Awasthi

Lucknow, Jan 19 (PTI) Uttar Pradesh ElectionCommission has roped in folk singer Malini Awasthi to promotevoting practice among people in view of the coming Assemblypolls in the state.

"Malini will be our brand ambassador to createawareness among the people with her songs," UP Chief Electoralofficer (CEO) Umesh Sinha told reporters here.

Malini, wife of a senior UP cadre IAS officer, hadrecently hogged limelight with her performances in NDTVImagine''s reality show "Junoon".

While state EC has also released a theme song titled"Jaago Jaago Desh Ke Matdaata" penned by CEO Sinha himself,more songs spreading awareness about voting rights are in theoffing.

The State Election Commission has planned a number ofcultural programmes to observe the National Voters'' Day onJanuary 25.
