Survey for Mukkaiyur harbour launched

Ramanathapuram (TN) Jan 17 (PTI) A survey for MukkaiyurHarbour in this district has been launched and the reportwould be submitted to the government in 15 days.

Inaugurating the scientific study at a brief function herelast evening, Minister Suba Thangavelan said the harbour wasbeing planned to help the fishermen who had been making thedemand for the past 60 years.

He said several lakes and tanks in Kadaladi belt had beenrenovated,and Narayana Cauvery channel was renovated at anestimated cost of Rs.7.65 crore.

The EB Sub-Stations had been set up in Sayalkudi,Naripaiyur,Keelakarai REgunathapuram and Keelakarai,said anoffficial release here today.

The harbour would ensure safety and development of thefishing industry.
